I’ve really enjoyed reading about what everyone likes for Christmas, so I thought I’d write about one of my favourite things – decorating the Christmas tree! Now, my wife thinks our Christmas is covered in junk, ninety percent of which should be thrown away and replaced by a single highly expensive crimson velvet ribbon from John Lewis. I, on the other hand, think it looks magnificent. Her main complaint is that there are far too many animal decorations on the tree, so I thought I’d count them up to check. This year’s West Christmas tree features: two polar bears, two fish, four cats, two dogs, a rhino, an elephant, two platypuses, a wombat, a robin, a sparrow, an echidna, three reindeer, a bee, two rabbits, a squirrel, a hedgehog, a black bear, a koala, a mouse and five pandas. Oh, and a wookie. Looks about right to me – not sure my wife’s going to agree though…

I very much enjoyed reading about the West tree. The Figueiredo version is in a similar vein. A menagerie of animals adorn it – alongside children’s creations… blown eggs, painted lumps of wood, bits of broken clay, 25 years of acquisitions. I say the more the merrier. Best of all are the partial chocolate wrappers and bits of string. Who ate the tree chocs without removing the packaging? Santa?
And this weekend it will end up by the bin awaiting Kingston council … with all those wonderful items safely back in the attic!
same as me I love singing all I want for Christmas is you!
Wow, did you like your christmas?
I LOVE animals so well done for getting all them on your tree! What are wookies and echidnas? Maybe next year try get an guinea pig ,hamster, cheetah, seal and a dolphin
Ava
Echidnas are like chubby Australian porcupines. Apart from the platypus, they are the only mammal that lays eggs. To find out more about wookies, you’d have to watch a Star Wars film.
I agree with Ava keep on trying to get more animals up on your xmas tree! It sounds like a fabulous tree to have. How long have you been collecting the animal decorations.
I think the oldest animal on the tree is thirty five years old!
Animals on trees are so cool! I had a koala on my tree! My dad loves star wars so I know what a wookie is!
Are you a big animal fan?
Clearly you are a trashy tree type of person. Me, not so much, obvs! No tinsel to be found on my tree, much to the dismay of the rest of the family. Oh well, I am the boss!!
My Christmas-tree is always full of junk as well! I still thought it looked good even with the kittens climbing in it!
YOUR BLOG IS AMAZING
